Cancer Pain
Cancer does not always lead to pain however, pain can occur in cancer patients in both early and advanced stages, and in cancer survivors as a side-effect of treatment.
Management
Treatment for cancer pain depends on the cause, but relief is available even if the cause is unknown. There are many ways of managing both acute and chronic cancer pain and many people require a combination of treatments for their pain management.
Anyone experiencing cancer pain during treatment should consult their health professional for information about what is possible, and if pain persists, they can be referred to a pain specialist. Survivors of cancer with ongoing pain can benefit from multidisciplinary pain management combined with supported self-management.
