Painaustralia Policy
Private Health Insurance submission
Painaustralia has provided a submission to the Australian Labor Party’s discussion paper on the proposed Productivity Commission Inquiry into the Private Health Insurance sector. Our submission makes recommendations aimed at improving the value of private health insurance for people living with chronic pain through measures such as expansion of allied health rebates, availability of informed decision-making support, as well as a focus on the availability of trained pain management specialists. Given the scale of the impact of pain on millions of Australians, the role private health insurance can play in alleviating its burden is important.
National Prescribing Service Submission: Pain management medication
The Department of Health is currently conducting a Review of the Quality Use of Medicines Program's Delivery by the National Prescribing Service (NPS MedicineWise). Painaustralia’s submission shares our views on some of the challenges as well as the work that has been achieved by NPS Medicinewise with regards to chronic pain management and safer opioid prescribing.
Our submission notes our support of NPS MedicineWise and its Quality Use of Medicines mandate. We believe that in working together with organisations such as ours, NPS Medicinewise can further its reach and leverage to create better understanding of both quality use of medicines and best practice pain management.
Victorian Royal Commission into Mental Health
