Canberra Script now active
Painaustralia is pleased to see the launch of the Canberra Script Real Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) system late last month after working alongside ACT Health to develop key consumer messaging for the program.
Canberra Script is a web-based portal which provides prescribers and pharmacists with important information such as patient history before they write or dispense a prescription for a monitored medicine.
Patient demographic information including name, date of birth, address and monitored medicine prescribing and dispensing history is collected to assist in the program delivery.
The Canberra Script program is designed to help make clinical decisions to keep consumers safe. It is important for prescribers and pharmacists to know what high-risk medicines consumers may be taking because some medicines taken in high doses, or when taken with other medicines, could be harmful.
Real Time Prescription Monitoring programs are being rolled out nationally across Australia, with New South Wales in the second phase, with the program rolling out to the North Coast, Northern Sydney, and Nepean Blue Mountains from late March.
Prescribers and pharmacists in the Hunter New England and Central Coast PHN were the first to have access to SafeScript NSW from October 2021. The SafeScript program was first launched in Victoria in 2019, and last year South Australia was the second state in Australia to introduce the program under the name ‘ScriptCheckSA’. NTScript went live in the Northern Territory earlier this week.
In collaboration with ACT Health, Painaustralia developed the video below which is designed to provide consumers with helpful information about Canberra Script.
